Rabbi Justin Pines
Based-In Rabbi
Rabbi Justin Pines serves as a Based-In Rabbi for Northern New Jersey. In this role he leads the local Base community by hosting Shabbat meals, learning opportunities and holiday events, and holds one-on-one conversations with community members.
Justin is passionate about creating experiences where each person can bring their best and full self to the community. He serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Broadcasting Service, where he hosts Jewish Insights with Justin Pines. He previously served as Director of Lay Leadership at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, and has worked closely with Rabbi Dr. Irving ‘Yitz’ Greenberg on a variety of projects, including a translation of and commentary on Ohr Yisrael Yisrael and Other Writings by Rabbi Israel Salanter.
The grandchild of four Holocaust Survivors, he received his BA in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania, his JD from Harvard Law School, and rabbinic ordination from Yeshivat Chovevei Torah. He practiced corporate law at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind Wharton & Garrison, LLP, is an alumnus of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship, is a trained Mussar vaad faciltiator, and serves on the board of the Penn Hillel.
Justin, his wife Tali and their children live in Englewood, New Jersey, where he serves on the executive board of the Moriah School.
