Simon Fiala
Moishe House Prague, Community Member
Jewish Background
Before connecting with Moishe House, Simon Fiala did not feel a strong pull towards local Jewish life. The ways in which older generations in Prague plan programs for Jewish young adults – rather than the young adults themselves, taking the reins – did not draw him in.
Moishe House Connection
Once Simon connected to Moishe House, he found his tribe and flourished as a Jewish leader. What started as Jewish peers hosting him for Shabbat dinners and other gatherings evolved into Simon hosting others and showing them their valuable place in Prague’s young Jewish scene.
Building Community
Moishe House brought Simon to a Retreat in Bulgaria to network with young Jewish leaders from across Europe and explore new modes of Jewish engagement. Simon believes that Moishe House’s approach – Jewish programming for young adults, by young adults – will pave the way for the new wave of engaged Jewish leaders in his city.
