Holiday Budget FAQs
How can I use the Holiday Budget?
The Holiday Budget was created for you to elevate a Jewish holiday program with intentionality. The application asks how you’ll spend the money and the ways these additional purchases will enhance your program and community-building efforts. Some ideas for what you can use the budget on: Judaica, food, paying an educator, speaker, or musician, decorations, and event space rentals. We will not approve applications to use the budget on things like hard alcohol, kitchenware, overnight space rentals, or transportation/gas/parking.
What holidays can I use the budget on?
The Holiday Budget can be used for programs celebrating Jewish holidays like Passover, Hannukah, Rosh Hashanah, etc. but excludes more frequent holidays like Shabbat or Rosh Chodesh.
Can I split my $100 between multiple programs or do I have to use it on a single program?
You can use your Holiday Budget for one or two separate programs during your year of hosting. For example, if you spend $45 from your Holiday Budget on a Tu B’Shevat Seder, you can apply to use the remaining $55 on your Rosh Hashanah gathering later on.
Can I use my Holiday Budget on my 12th month Capstone Program?
Nope! Your other programs are fair game though.
When should I apply to use the Holiday Budget?
At least 5 business days in advance of your program, but the earlier the better!
How much can I spend on alcohol?
You can spend up to 20% of your total approved amount on beer, wine, hard seltzer, etc. So, for example, if you have at least 10 people at your program ($15/person = $150) and you were approved for $100 for the Holiday Budget, you can spend up to $50.
