Parashat Ki Tissa “When You Take a Census”
In Parashat Ki Tissa, Moses sees the people of Israel dancing around the golden calf after Moses did not return from Mount Sinai when they thought he would. When Moses does return with the engraved tablet with the Ten Commandments, he destroys both the tablets and the golden calf, thus taking away their idol. Thanks to Moses, G-d eventually forgives the people of Israel. Moses goes back up Mount Sinai and returns with the tablets once more as well as the 13 Attributes of Mercy (pulled from Shemot 34:6-7) so if the people of Israel falter once more, they know how they can be granted mercy.
What can we learn from Moses and his actions to have God forgive the people?
Has there been a time when someone took something from you unexpectedly?
How did you react? What did you do to rectify the situation? Were you able to forgive them?
